Finally, Every Time I Die has finally returned to the sound that long-time fans first fell in love with.  The band’s newest release “Ex Lives” resembles the familiar sounds found on older albums such as “Gutter Phenomenon” and even “Hot Damn”.  With the introduction of newly adopted drummer Ryan Leger, the pace has an immediately noticeable boost in energy.  Nonetheless, the band continues to progress in their diversity, exemplified by the slow-tempoed melody but powerful beating in “Revival Mode”.  Immediately after, the math-core quintet pulls you right back with hard hits and wailing vocals in “Drag King”.
There are obviously going to be mixed reviews of this album, but as a long-time fanboy of these guys, I must say I am very please and happy with “Ex Lives” and highly recommend it for past and prospective fans.

Bored at the Office

  • Brooks Ilg: sometimes I have no idea what I'm doing when im doing tech support
  • Chris Done: thats kinda how it is - but as long as you pretend good enough you'll be fine
  • Brooks Ilg: exactly
  • just throw out random tech words to throw off the scent
  • just say "server" a few times
  • Chris Done: lol yeah the ip configuration of the server has hit critical mass and surged the DNS server so that your ISP has no subnet mask
  • Brooks Ilg: OMG can you fix that???
  • Chris Done: yes i just need to remote into the router and reconfigure the ports on the digital and analog outputs
  • Brooks Ilg: Yeah I'm on the phone with Charter Microsoft and Samsung so we can recache your VPN settings into the RAM without compromising your cookies
Chicago’s shadow. Full version.

Chicago’s shadow. Full version.

I remember when I was five, I had a Daft Punk Around The World cassette tape.  I’d bring that thing to school in my walkman and feel like I was hot stuff.  Fast forward 15 years later and Daft Punk is still producing new music even more amazing than ever.  Their most recent work was done for Tron Legacy.  I am a bit of a geek and I love the movie, but the real artistry and driving force for the movie is the soundtrack.  Before a script was even written, Daft Punk was given a full orchestra and was asked to write music for the movie.  Since the duo already live in their own computer world, the soundtrack in my opinion is a natural masterpiece.  The back and forth of delicate strings and hard gritty electronic drums is what defines Daft Punks versatility.  Definitely check out Daft Punks latest work for Tron Legacy and take a journey back through all their past releases, my favorite being their 2005 release Human After All.
Also recently released is Tron Legacy Reconfigured: a compilation of remixes of Daft Punks original soundtrack.  Below is an awesome track from the album. Check it out
